What happens on a HESED weekend? You will meet new friends, and join them in wonderful music, worship, and discussions about the life of Christ. You will dress in costumes like those that Jesus’ friends wore, and participate in a series of short dramas that will make you feel that you are walking and talking with Jesus throughout the important events of His life! Who attends Hesed Weekends?
If you, or someone you know, is interested in learning about the life of Christ or fellowshipping with other people concerned about adults with disabilities... the Hesed folks hope you will apply to attend a weekend. When is the HESED retreat? This year, HESED will begin on Friday morning at 9:00 am. It will conclude around 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. September 14-15, 2007 Where does HESED take place? At Camp Royall, a beautiful, handicap-accessible camp located near Pittsboro, NC. This camp is owned and operated by the NC Autism Society. How much does it cost, and what does the fee cover? The cost to attend a HESED retreat as a guest is $40. This covers the cost of staying overnight at Camp Royall, as well as meals (lunch and dinner on Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday). Partial or full scholarships are available if needed or requested. Hesed does not want money to prevent your attendance. Can my special needs be accommodated? We will make every effort to meet your needs during the weekend – including special diet, etc. Please let us know ahead of time what assistance you will require. However if you need a lot of physical assistance to help you dress, bathe, etc., we recommend that you ask a caregiver to accompany you on the weekend. What if I can’t participate the whole 2 days? It is VERY important that you arrive on time (by 9:00 on Friday) and plan to stay throughout the whole retreat. If you cannot, it would be better to plan to come another year when your schedule is more flexible. How can I register? Please print the Guest registration form and print the Medical/Medicine Form. Complete both forms and mail them to the address on the form. Click here for the forms. If I have attended HESED before, can I come again? You can only attend one year as a GUEST on a HESED weekend. After that, we invite you to serve on the team! If you are interested in being part of the team, you will need to attend the 3 team meetings.
